We are a busy and active people. So it stands to reason that as our organization grows in size, the
new members bring abilities, ideas and available time with them. These ideas need to be quickly
discussed and implemented. We need a good process that can involve everyone who is interested in these discussions
and plans, as well as a reporting system to keep everyone up-to-date. Feedback from our members is crucial to this Assocaition's
effective. The more convenient we make the feedback easy for our members to give, then the more often we will
get it. Therefore, the primary purpose of this website is to keep all members on top of what is happening
all around us in our own Association.
I have learned that our members would love to particpate and not in one area only. They like to contribute
every way that they can. I've seen them actively work on team projects while they contribute suggestions and counsel
to other teams and individuals.
-- So let's set up teams with several workers, so the work can be disbursed enough so that members can
work on more than one team.
I have also learned that many members are "seasonally" active, due to natural and normal factors in their
life. Some have summers free to help us, some have winters free, some need to take a break for a wedding or vacation
and some are more busy in the early part of the month. Everyone has different forces dictating their life, but everyone
would like to participate and give us a boost.
--So we need short-term projects with definate start/end dates and projects that move at the team's (or
individual's) own pace. We also need to have our Project teams structured ao as to have active members come-&-go
without interuption. Documenting every member's contributions and making it available for new joinees, is a good way
to accomplish this.
I've also learned that members have faith in us. This faith has been shown by many who have begun
to work in this Association and stopped their own genealogy research. Their hope, and our promise, is that by helping
the Association we will help their research. This is teamwork at its best! We can't work on everyone's individual
genealogy at the same time and really accomplish much. We need to get people of talent busy in the areas that
they can do their best, which will provide the resources, finances, labor, tools and leadership to accomplish every one
of our goals- corporately & individually!
--We need all kinds of people. People who can administer, write, teach, research, program, design,
publish, type, document, record, archive, plan, make decisions, photograph, budget, implement, coordinate, donate and
share.
Besides aiding in the formation of teams and helping members stay in-tune and helping members
become more resourceful/helpful, we can also use this website for the following:
1- maintain our mailing list
2- get eNewsletters published frequently
3- accept on-line payments for membership dues
4- sell O'Dochartaigh Clann clothing and other merchandise
5- tell our story to prospective members
6- make forms available for downloading
7- members to submit request for our Clann Genealogy Center to begin an individual's genealogy
search
8- "Member's Only" section to publish By-laws, Mission Statement and Yearend Financial Statements
9- to receive solicited and unsolicited feedback
10- to profile many of our members
11- to improve communications and effectiveness of our Association
